Geneva, October 5th 2011 – Global Data Excellence announces that the Canton of Valais has chosen the DEMS software to implement its Data Excellence programme.
DEMS is the first tool that verifies that data is used compliant to the rules defined by an organization. Furthermore, DEMS measures in terms of value (usually monetary) the implication of non-compliancy.
In Switzerland, the provisions in “The Law on Harmonization of Registers (2008)” have made it necessary for the administration of the Canton of Valais to implement a central data repository. The canton’s IT department will be managing the implementation of the repository which implicates more than 140 communes. It will simplify data exchanges (definition of the list of characters, codes and flags) and impose the principal of the unique identification of physical persons, the address of residence or a postal code.
The project, which will be completed in 2012 (eliminating paper messaging), has been organized in 3 phases:
- Implementation of the quality and business rules (data governance)
- Consolidation of the register of inhabitants
- Making available of database of physical and moral persons
